Just want to say 'hi' as I just found this great site! I'm attaching a link of my new SW1911. I change the rubber grips with a pair of Cocobolo wooden ones.

Hello and Welcome to TFF MIkeI, I couldn't get the Pic to show up. You don't need a host for your Pic's here, just scroll down in your new thread or message reply box where it says attach file. Then click browse to look through your own files on your harddrive to find the Pic you want to post...click on the file or Pic and hit the open button and your Pic file should be there to upload when you hit the submit button. Give it a try again and let's see what happens...;)

Let us know how that sucker works out for ya. I like SW's revolvers, and I'm wondering how well their 1911s will do so early on.

    And..welcome. :D

A BIG HOWDY to ya Mike,

Welcome to the TFF, A fine looking piece of weaponry you got!
Not to mention the single best semiauto pistol ever made and concieved of. Hey, guess what? I built my own 1911. Yes I am a 1911 nut!!!!!!:D To see my pistola just look at the thread titled,(I built my 1911) here in this forum.

Do you reload your own ammo Mike?

MikeI, You might want to check GP's sticky about S&W 1911 recall at the top of the page.

    I prefer the SA 1911A1s.

Thank you for your kind comments.

I'm sort of a 1911 nut myself, but haven't built one. I have a hard time just putting 'em back together! I owned a Colt Government, Colt Gold Cup (both had to be sent back to be fixed), a Para Ord., a Wilson Combat. I now own the SW1911 and a Les Baer model Concept V.

I use to reload back in the '80's when ammo was around $20.00 a box. I had fun reloading but when they came out with the less expensive stuff I gave it up and sold all my reloading stuff.

Well Even though they comply with the 45 billion rules for mass they have not sent it in for approval so they are illegal in mass, they are what i first looked at for my 1911 only to find out they are banned for now, but i think i'll be happier with the smith , i hope

Sorry, didn't realize Mass. was that restrictive.

Being from out here in the almost free west, it didn't occur to me that it wouldn't be the same from one brand to another.

After all, it's the same basic design for almost all US made 1911's. Isn't it? They can't be that different.

Mass is a mess when it comes to laws like i said, some brands i think do vary maybe no grip safety or load indicator but i mean the SA meets reqs. they are just kinda not really caring about mass enough to get it approved i guess.
