IRS to harrass non-profits

    Having the senators appointed by the state legislators was an important part of the checks and balances built into the Constitution. I find it very annoying that Indiana has no say in partisan votes in the senate because we have one senator from each party.

    With direct popular election the seats are basically for sale to whoever can pony up the most advertising money.

    Your assumption that the state legislature is somehow above politics just doesn't make sense to me. If anything it will make they further away from the people and likely to really bring in more lobbists money at the state level. If you want to change your senator then do something about it like the tea party movement has don't try to take the ballot out of everyones hand just because of a sense of powerlessness (if thats is even a word).
