Is it safe? 22 cal. shorts

    Is it safe to shoot 22 cal. short ammo out of a 22 cal. revolver?

    I was just wondering about it before I tried just seemed like a 22 short sits so far back in the cylinder and it would have to travel more then half way through the cylinder untill it would enter the barrel.
    I'm just over thinking it ...LOL

    Make sure you clean out the cylinder well before transitioning back to .22LR. Although it is COMPLETELY safe, it will leave little rings inside of the cylinder which will make it a little harder to extract/load rounds.

    I shoot 22 CB caps out of my Ruger 22 revolver.Good squirrel medicine.

    CCI .22 target shorts are my favorite "can-killer" ammo in my S&W Model 63 revolver.

    In a revolver, there is no problem at all. In a magazined manual rifle rated for LR, there might be a problem with feeding. In a semi-auto, it is not advised at all. Even if the semi does cycle, the feed can flip the new cartridge to get the edge of the rim jammed by the closing bolt, causing it to fire.
