Iver Johnson 38

    Hello All
    Can anyone advise a source for disassembling and maintenance of the Iver Johnson 38, 3rd model. TIA

    the only disassembly that should be done for maintaince is remove the cylinder. to do this there are two methods. early one have a threaded cylinder bushing that you lift up on and turn counter clockwise about three full turns. later one have a collar and lug on the botton of the barrel. to find the slot in the cylinder bushing lift up on cylinder and turn very slowly until the slot aligns with the barrel lug. the cylinder top latch should be held in the open postion. any more disassembly is only for parts replacement and should not be attempted. of course to do a good job of cleaning remove the grips also.

    with cylinder removed the barrel can be cleaned from the breech end which every one agrees is the best way.
