If 267160C is the spring you have, it just looks like a replacement for the earlier flat V-spring type: http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ad/268290.htm#267160C
If so, the bends would point toward muzzle end, with the short closed end sitting down in a recess in front part of trigger guard, and the long open ends fitting under the lip at top front of the trigger.
