Iver Johnson questions

    Hello! I have aquired my late grandfather's IJ pistol and I need to know what I have and any other info anyone can help me with. He is all the info on the pistol. It's a .22 cal.short,7 shot revolver. Top break.Owl head is facing you.Grips are in excellent cond. Top of the barrel says "* Iver Johnson's Arms And Cycle Works* * Fitchburg,Mass U S A *. On the butt of the handle ,Pat.Pending Nov17'08 Pat's Pending. Serial # is E1 9893.Same number is under trigger guard except NO E .I've read that are 3 generations of this pistol #1 is from 1894-1895 #2 1886-1908 #3 1909-1941.Any and all help is greatly appreciated.     Hello and welcome hunter. By your description you have a Third Model Small Frame Hammer Safety Automatic revolver manufactured in 1915. The third model .22 was produced from 1910 – 1941.

    They were a well made affordable gun for the common man and therefore quite popular in its day and I.J. made a variety of firearms from the late 1800's all the way into the 1990's. So unfortunately most pieces are not rare by any means and never been highly sought after as a collectable but still collectable none the less and more so as time goes on. I probably didn't need to say all that and the short answer is "I don't know" especialy not knowing its condition so I'll tell you that most pieces value between $50 and $250. By your own assessment of its condition and using these figures as a guide I'm sure your best guess would not be far off. Hope this helps a bit.
