I just made a trade for a SAA clone chambered for the .45 Long Colt. It was manufactured by J.P. Sauer & Sohn (now known as Sig-Sauer) in the 1950s or 1960s, and imported by Hy Hunter Firearms. The model name, roll-marked onto the right side of the barrel, is "Western Six-Shooter Model .45."
Hy Hunter imported several different revolvers, some good, some bad. The low-quality ones were their poor-quality .22 revolvers, which were pot-metal with steel barrel and cylinder sleeves. The "hard caliber" models were good quality.
This six-gun has a case-hardened steel frame, with all steel parts. The major difference between this gun and the Colt SAA is that this gun has a frame-mounted firing pin. It shoots pretty well.
I am satisfied with the trade. I traded him straight across for my Hi-Point .45acp, which has been nothing but trouble since I got it.
Do any of you have one of these six-guns? How do you like it?
