Friend just bought a Jennings J22 and ran into one problem, no manuals. We are trying to find information about proper takedown procedure on this gun but haven't had much luck. He has already found a way to get ahold of a replacement manual set but that will take awhile to arrive so I was hoping someone here might be able to shine some light on this for him till then. Any help that can be given is greatly appreciated.

    Remove magazine, clear chamber.

Using a small non-marring tool such as the eraser end of a pencil, press in on the retainer at the rear of the slide. This looks like a small circular button facing the shooter. This will release the rear of the slide to come up away from the frame. The slide assembly then removes forward off of the frame.

This allows removal of the slide, firing pin, firing pin spring, retainer, and recoil spring. Removing the grips will allow further disassembly, such as removal of the cam which releases the sear. However, unless you just HAVE to do this I advise against it. Not because it is particularly difficult but because the parts are small, spring powered, and easily lost.
