Juker, Here's what she looks like after a few mods! She now has a nice trigger, a tight barrel, grips, and will feed JHP, SW, Etc.

She's shooting a 6" group at 20 yards free hand. It got to hot to try her on the bench. My range is outside and it was getting very hot by 8:00 am, So maybe a better report later.

Six inch group at 60 feet, freehand - that group fits BTN*, so he's dead. Well done. :)

How hard was it to fit the safety?

It's not a very tuff task, Just pay attention to not take to much off. I have watched the Wilson Combat video set repeatedly and read every book I can find on the 1911. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

Fittin a new thumb safety to a 1911 is pretty straight forward. I use a small fine flat bastard file and a small fine needle file. Leave the grip safety out and cock the hammer and insert the new safety. just pay attention where it hits the sear and work that spot back little at a time checking fit as you go. you want it to just kiss the sear as it comes to rest in the ON position, take too much and you will effectively turn it into a decocker. I speak from experience..;)
