    Hi all and merry christmas!

santa brought me a set of .45 ACP dies so i just ordered 1000 230 grain LRN bullets from missouri bullet co. good thing is i can use those for reloading my 45 Long Colt guns as well. i have the following powders at home:

H38, Power Pistol, Bullseye, Clays and Trail Boss.

Please share with me your favorite and proven loads. Will be shooting with a MPA Mac 10 and a Glock 21 (yes, i know about the lead controversy, lets not get into that now...

5.4 grains of HP38 or 5 grains of bullseye in the ACP under 230 grain bullets. Both are Venturino loads and produce Mil spec velocities (230 gr bullet @ 830 fps) I shoot them thru my 1911, and they are very accurate.

Mostly depends on what platform you're shooting.

    For my S&W 625 I use a 230 gr FMJ and 6.8 gr 4756.

For my 1911 I use a 200 gr lead SWC and 4.3 gr Clays or 5 gr Unique.

-you can feed it nearly anything
-it doesn't care much about OAL
    -it's stout, reliable, and durable
-you don't need to clean it much
-you can dryfire it all the time

6.0gr of Unique would work fine w/ that bullet.

The Hodgdon annual reloading magazine has a excerpt regarding the trail boss powder in 45 acp semi autos... Might be interesting to try out IMHO.

My all time favorite .45 ACP powder is WW 231.

No doubt if its for a .45 ACP its Win 231. I shoot 2400 in the .45 AR 1955 S&W Target Mdl.

I've shot a lot of 231 and it is without a doubt an excellent powder for the 45 ACP. That said, I have found magic with WST and Silhouette in my 45s and 231 has fallen down the list of my favorite 45 powders.

It seems that Tight Group and WST are one in the same powder. I read this in a Hodgon report on one of the reloading sites. The Winchester 452AA is all so the same critter.

Mind posting a link to this info? I would have to disagree with this. TG and WST are not even close on the burn charts and load data is miles apart for each.

    Example Hodgdon data.
    45ACP
    185gr JSWC
    WST Max-4.9gr-866fps-16,500cup
    TG Max-5.5gr-956fps-17,000cup

    40 S&W
    155gr XTP
    WST-Max-5.3gr-1039fps-32,500psi
    TG---Max-5.9gr-1139fps-31,700psi

230gr. FMJ with 5gr. of Bullseye. Less powder more reloads per pound. Works great in my Kimber 1911, all three Glocks, and Taurus .45. They all feed reliably and shoot great.
