At the range at which I shoot, a member mentioned that he loads all of his
45 ACP's with Green Dot Powder. He felt that it was the cleanest. He also mentioned thaat Green Dot is really considered a Shot Shell load.

I bought some Green Dot but find no load data anywhere for 45's or 9mm's.

Any suggestions and/or recipes? I only shoot targets and the monthly 1911 Tournament and traditionally make light loads.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks folks.

At Alliants website they only have one load listed for 45 acp. Its for a 230 gr Speel LRN. You can see it here..

    http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/recipedetail.aspx?gtypeid=1&weight=230&shellid=35&bulletid=63

In my Lee 2nd edition book there are a few loads listed using Green Dot

    155 gr lead bullet- Start gn= 6.3, Max= 6.6, Min OAL 1.270, Vel 1121fps
    180 gr lead bullet- Start gn= 5.3, Max= 5.3, Min OAL 1.190, Vel 910fps
    185 gr Jacketed bullet- Start gn= 6.5, Max= 6.8, Min OAL 1.275, Vel 954fps
    200 gr Jacketed bullet- Start gn= 5.8, Max= 5.9, Min OAL 1.175, Vel 897fps
    200 gr lead bullet- Start gn= 4.3, Max= 4.3, Min OAL 1.190, Vel 805fps
    230 gn Jacketed bullet- Start gn= 5.4, Max= 5.4, Min OAL 1.190, Vel 920fps
    230 gn lead bullet- Start gn= 4.3, Max=4.3, Min OAL 1.190 Vel 805fps
    240 gn Jacketed bullet- Start gn= 4.8, Max 5.0, Min OAL 1.210, Vel 761fps

Remember these loads are directly from the "Modern Reloading 2nd Edition" by Richard Lee. They are not mine.

Green Dot is a great powder for cast lead applications in pistol rounds. Those loads john listed are spot on, and the Lyman 49th also lists some for the .45 (didnt look at the 9mm listings)
