OK, So I drastically changed the scope of my AR-15 build. I'll post pictures when its done. But I need to find a barrel clamp picatinny rail to put the folding front sight on that will match up appropriately with the receiver. Either that or I need to find a clamp on AR-15 sight. Aside from buying a whole folding frontsight base, which is more money than I'd like to spend, I'm having a lot of difficulty finding what I am looking for that will work for an AR-15 due to the sight height. Does anyone have an idea? Maybe I should get an A1 FSB and deal with it not folding??? I am planning on putting a magnified optic on it though...and this sight is going to be RIGHT behind the muzzle break.
They do make a gas block that has a pic rail on the top and bottom that will match up with the height of the upper receiver. Check Brownells. they're not that expensive.
Finally, I figured out the terminology for what I was looking for. "Same Plane" gas block is what I was looking for and I found it in this gas block; http://www.surplusammo.com/saa-ar-1...dual-picatinny-railed-clamp-on-gas-block-750/
Needless to say, though, trying to do a light weight build and this thing being a 1/4 pound...I'll be getting the drill press out to Swiss cheese this sucker and get the weight on it down. Good thing I don't actually need to use it as a gas block!
