M 1 Carbine .30cal.

    Does this gun lock back after the last round ? Tom

    Yes, with a magazine in place.

    If it's a GI carbine, yes, it should (with the magazine in place).

    After the war there were a bunch of "civilian" carbines made by various manufacturers ranging in quality from "pretty good" to "hopelessly terrible". Not sure about those.

    Tom.....as a general rule of thumb, most military semi-auto and auto weapons were designed to "hold open" after the last round is fired....and all U.S. ones did. The M1 Carbine, M1 Rifle, M1 (Thompson) submachine gun, and the M1911 pistol all do.

    In fact, the M1 (Garand) Rifle not only holds open, it even spits out it's used clip after the last round is fired.

    Yes, ve vait for the sound of the KaChing of zee clip being ejected zen ve rush their positions......

    Heard stories about that growing up - WWII vets in the family...Then we pick up the Thompson held in reserve and await the rush.....
