    7.62 x 39 has more energy.

No question about it - the 7.6239 in the SKS. Don't forget that the 7.62X39 round is in the same class (roughly) as a .30-30. The .30 M1 Carbine round is a pistol-class round.

I love the .30 Carbine anyway...... Great little round in a fun little carbine.

I love it also have a IBM and a great shooter accurate to 200 yds also.

But thinking of getting a SKS just to play with as I hear the ammo is much cheaper

It is way cheaper ammo wise plus it's fun to trick them out! You can't and shouldnt do much to the m1 carbine.

Oh no never to anything to my M1. From what I have read and seen the SKS is pretty also and I think would be more fun stock. I am looking for a Yugo with the crome barrel .

The SKS far out powers the .30 carbine
However lets not bash the little .30 It was designed for a very specific purpose: The army needed a firearm for tankers, engineers, paratroopers etc.
The .45 auto pistol was to small for a primary weapon, the M1 Garand was to large to carry. The .30 carbine was made to fill this nitch and was carried by thousands and thousands of dirty-joes.. So is the .30 carbine a pistol or rifle??
The answer is Yes and No. There was a time you couldn`t give away a paratoop folding carbine, they`re now greatly saught after by re-enactors and collectors worldwide..

Looks good, 25yret! I think the M1 Carbine is a great gun, someone should make a .22 based on an M1, or aftermarket stock and forend for a 10/22, like an even-smaller Mini 14, I see too many .22s based off ARs.
