I have an old Marlin 336 RC but it has the Texan stock with the state and steer carved in.Has this been altered or were some RC models made this way? Thanks,Earl.

Most all Marlin 336 barrels in that area were marked like that if they used the standard carbine barrel. Your gun's serial number should start with V or W.

1962, and a Deluxe Texan. By the way, a fairly rare piece and actively sought after by Marlin collectors.

As noted above, a very hard to find limited production model; and especially rare in 35 Remington chambering (produced in 30/30 Win and 35 Rem). Most Deluxe Texan models had highly figured American black walnut stocks, and will bring a premium from collectors if the gun remains in high condition.
