I have two Marlin Levermatic rifles that were purchased new back in the early 60"s that I am having a hard time finding any info on.

The first is a modle 56 .22 long and the second is a 57M .22 mag. (this one has no serial number). Both have scopes mounted and bothe still have the iron sites on them.

Both are in great shape, the bluing is abot 98% on both and with exception of a couple of handleing marks on the wood, they are almost perfict. I dont think either one has had more that 500 round through it.

My father bought them new, and I have had them for about ten years myself. I dont have any pics, but they are both like new. The origional box's have disapeared over the years, but they are stored in a cases.

Any idea about the value of these items?

I'd say for the model 56 in 98% condition, $375 and the 57M about $50 more.

They were made from 1959-1965. This rifle has a big brother, the model 62 in small cernterfire calibers, 256 Win mag, and 30 carbine. If you had one of these then you would have what Marlin collectors consider "the set" of levermatics. It could be that since you hve the 56 and the 57M, in very good condition, you might find a collector and get a bit more for the pair. I don't know the market on these that well however.
