A friend brought over a rather nice, older, Marlin Model 60 with a problem. It would fail to fire about every third shot. The cartridge cases cases showed very light hits. I took it apart and use Gun Scrubber on it (lot's of black gunk came out) but I really think it needs a new hammer spring and firing pin. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

You'll probably want to remove the firing pin completely and clean out the bolt. Sometimes you'll get a lot of carbon buildup that'll bind up the pin on a .22
