Hi folks, Can anyone provide me with detailed disassembly/assembly instructions for the action of this 60's vintage rifle? I have the schematic, but nothing else.

    Thanks in advance,

    Scobia

Hi ! I know this post is old but I thought someone else could use this information. I also can not find disassembly and reassembly of the Marlin model 99C. But it is not hard to do . I have a ton of rifle books and they have the Marlin rifles but not of the 99C model. But some are simaliar to the 99C. I just diassembly and note the positions of all the parts so reassembly is just the reverse order.

The Marlin 99-C & the other 99-series models are basically Old Model-type Marlin 60's.

The oddball way Marlin decided to number its various styles of Marlin 60 is truly beyond logic...as in there wasn't any logic used ;)

Some of the numberings makes sense, most don't. Go Figure. :D

Since I have both Model 60's & model 99C rifles, I have no idea how Marlin arrived at their Model Number sequence. I can tell you that I received my Model 99C; that fires .22 S, L & LR in 1967 and the Model 60 wasn't available until later. The Model 60 only fires LR ammo & was known as the Model 60 Glenfield. This rifle also had some issues with feeding that a rat-tail file applied to the feed ramp corrected. Put a 4x scope on any of them & you have a great rifle.

The Marlin model 60 was introduced in 1960.
The 99 series was introduced in 1959.

And for future reference, in case anyone ever asks, the Ruger 1022 was introduced in 1964...
and Marlin has sold almost twice the amount of 60's as there are 1022's in the world.
7.8 Million 1022's vs 15.3 million Marlin 60's (Numbers per company records as of July 2012)
