Three guys traveling together stop at a hotel for the night.
    The room costs $30.

    They each chipped in $10

After they settled into their room the hotel manager felt bad that the room only had 2 beds and a couch so he gave the bell-hop $5 and instructed him to give the 3 men this $5 refund.

The bell-hop was a smart guy and he new that the 3 men could not divide 5 one dollar bills evenly, so he kept $2 and gave the 3 men each $1.

    OK, here is the problem.
    The room cost $30.
With the refund each of the 3 men payed $9.
    $9 x 3= $27
    Bell hop kept $2
    $27 + $2 = $29

Were the hell is the other DOLLAR??

    LOL!

You don't work up with the $2 to $30 but work down to the $25.

Sounds like it should be the other way when you suggest it.

Without looking it up, the room actually cost $28 ($30 -$2 bell hop = $28).

    Each guys share is $9.333...each now. ($9.33, $9.33, $9.34)

    Right?

The room cost is 25 dollars .the bellhop keeps 2 bucks gives back 3 bucks
25+2=27+3=30.it's simple when you don't over think it folks.

    No.

Each man paid $10, then got $1 back; that is $9. $9 times 3 is &27.

This is where they throw us for a loop.

They got 3 bucks back, so you are subtracting the $3 from the $30 getting $27. The remaining $2 gets subtracted also, resulting in $25.
