I have a new (to me) sporterized K98 that doesn't eject the spent shells most of the time. It seems to work a lot better with winchester ammo, but this is getting hard to find around here (they say because of the war). The brass stays seated in the bolt body/extractor. I can flick it out with my finger, but that's not the point. Any possible solutions/repairs? Thanks,

Replace the ejector. Do the whole ejector box as it is almost impossible to just replace the spring.

Replace the Mauser with a Mosin-Nagant.

No replacing a VW with something that WORKS is more like it...:p

    Nah, we've done this before...sorry...

But it WOULD be an easier fix on a Mosin....;)
  6. But Berto, that would be like replacing a Sig Sauer with a Raven!!!:D;):p

The Mauser has positive ejection. That is a piece of metal attached to the receiver moves in behind the case as the bolt is operated and pushes the case out of the receiver. If your Mauser is not ejecting then:

    1) the ejector is not in the gun or broken off or bent so that it can not slide into the cut on the bolt head

    2) the spring that moves it into the cut in the bolt is missing, broken , or has lost its spring

    3) you are not moving the bolt all the way to the rear. With the gun empty you can see the ejector poke though the bolt face as you operate the bolt all the way to the rear

Mausers are simple and usually fool proof so a fix to your problem has to be easy.

AND its not a VW but a Yugo that the Mosin-Nagant compares to. Sorry, we've been there haven't we......

Thanks, all of you. Upon closer inspection, the spring does appear to be "not so springy". I have ordered the parts. Faster re-loads, here i come.
