Mossberg M51m exploded schematic for Beth

The barrel appears to be threaded into the reciever as there is no barrel pin listed in the schematic. Hope this helps you out.

NO, the barrel is pressed into the receiver.

Rather than me trying to explain an easy way to remove the barrel from the receiver I'll give you a link with info on building and using a "barrel pusher".

Beth, GH is right. i had a little more time to look into it and it is pressed in using a hydraulic pusher. Basically the shank of the barrel is the same size +.001 or so as the ID of the reciever ring. Essentially you get 2 parts to exist as one using a pressed fit.

Most .22s are pinned. meaning the barrel shank is slightly undersize so the barrel can be easily removed from the reciever. and it is held in place by a very tight fitting pin. Marlin 60s and Ruger 10/22s are a couple of examples..

Then you have a few that are threaded like a centerfire would be. Where the shank of the barrel is threaded like a bolt and the reciever ring is threaded like a nut and the 2 screw together. Remington model 5 and CZ 452s are a coupel of examples in the rifle category and the ruger standard and mark series are examples in the handgun category..

There are a few pressed fit .22 rifles. the mossberg 51 and variants are one example.

Just different examples of ways to achieve the same result.. An accurate way to put hi speed lead on target at distance. ;)
