A couple of weeks ago (6/26) my wife and I went car shopping. We ended up buying a Kia Optima Hybrid. After all the dealing was done, the salesman was "delivering" the car to me out in the front of the dealership.

He was explaining some of the features of the car and asked if I had any questions. I asked him about syncing my cell phone to the car's bluetooth. I have an iPhone and the front picture on it is my Sig P238, he asked me what gun it was, so I told him. We got to talking about guns and come to find out, the young fellow is also a "gun nut". I have pictures of all my "babies" on my phone so we sit there looking a gun pictures.

Well, to make an even longer story short, we made a trade on something that I had been wanting for years. He told me that he had a Thompson M1927A-1 so we made a deal where I would trade him a RIA 1911 and an AR-15 for the Thompson.

I went back to the dealership last Saturday to look at the rifle and make the deal. Here is what I got. The rifle, a 50 round drum, two 30 round stick mags, and it is all in a Violin case. He said he has a 10 round drum too but hasn't found it yet. I thought it was a sweet deal.

Oh yeah, here is a picture of the new car, too.

WOW, i would make that trade any day. I've always wanted a Thompson, I was offered one 10 or 12 years ago but it was full auto and I wasn't going to touch that thing, here in California they would build the prison around me if they caught me with one of those.

One of the guns shows currently popular had a customer come in with one of those. They fully pimped it out. IMO, it ruined the weapon. For my taste, the appearance of yours is what it should look like forever. The patina is great.

    Well done.

Myles, I do love the gun and have only put two rounds through it!!

The car is for the wife, so I will probably only get to drive it when it needs gas!!

My friend had the 1927 model in .22lr back in the day and it was the most fun .22 I have ever fired. Had like a 25-30 banana style magazine to it. Heavy too.

I gotta know, where is KIA made? I was thinking Korea. But in any case, the reason I'm asking, we have a dealer here on a local channel that's advertising 24/7 and in his add, he always says, "built right here in the USA!"
I'm thinking assembled yes, but built?

They are actually built in West Point, Georgia, which is about 60 miles south of Atlanta. Of course they are Korean cars, so I am sure that some of the parts do come from Korea.

KIAs are Korean designed and American made nowadays. Most all of the parts are made in Mexico with korean specs. not all that different from Norinco building 1911s from original JMB specs.
