I recently was given an old revolver that belonged to my grandfather. I have been trying to indentify the firearm and restore it. I have no idea what model it is and i would greatly appreciate any info any of yall have.

.32 cal Smith and Wesson revolver
It has the following engraved on the side of the barrel
    [ 32 long ctg]

It has a 6 inche barrel and the # 8768.

I'll try to get a pic posted.

Open the cylinder and see if there are any numbers stamped on the inside of the crane! Let us know and please post a picture if you can. Also barrel length?

Without at least a serial number, there were 24 S&W pistols made in 32 S&W. If the #8768 is on the crane, then this narrows it a bit, but not much. It makes it a "pre-model" S&W.

The serial number is printed on the handle, the cylinder, and the bottom of the barrel.
