My step dad acquired this shotgun about 50 years ago, I have not been able to identify & am hoping you all can help.
It is a 12 gauge, no manufacture marking that I can find, 32 inch barrel, there are coins embedded in the stock which appear to be Philippine and Mexico origin. Pictures are attached. Thanks
Welcome to the forum. Do a google for "zulu shotgun".
I think it's originally French. They started out as muzzleloaders, then in
the mid 1800's were converted to breechloaders. The French called them
"tabatiere" . Then later on the Belgians got their hands on them and
converted them to shotguns. Sold all over the world for not much money,
and they have pretty much retained that value. At least I think that's what you have.
Is the breech block brass? Kind of looks like it. That would be a bit unusual.
Yep, You got it, Called Zulu's, sold a lot in the over seas colonies but I think the name came from a advertising gimmick. The coins were just someone's ideal to pretty it up.
Thanks Bill & RJay for the Zulu ID.
The breech lock is brass.
