A friend of mine is wanting me to research his WW2 pistol. I am 99% sure it is a Beretta since it has PB on the grips. It has few markings on the pistol and says Beretta no where on the pistol? The only markings I can make out are a serial number G28076 and the letters "RE" by the beaver tail grip.
I would like to know the Model Number, Caliber, The Year Made, What the "RE" means? What country was this pistol issued to? Any what branch of the military? Also would like to know the Caliber and Any other information you may have on the Pistol. The pistol comes with the original holster. My friend got the pistol from his uncle who served in WW2 in Africa and Europe.
The only thing missing on the pistol is the clip. http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac132/68rs327/DanielsPistol012_zps1ca7082c.jpg

It's a Beretta M1934 which was chambered in 9mm Corto (.380 ACP), or is a model M1935 which is a .32 ACP model. Trust the Italians to reduce the usefulness of the firearm. They do make good guns, but their politics are kind of useless when it comes to guns.

Here's a link to info about the pistol.

Since it is a Beretta, you can send a mail to the Beretta Co. and they can tell you based on the serial number which of the two models it is. They may even be able to supply a magazine for it. Even if they can't get you a mag, it shouldn't be too hard to find one. If you have any friends with .380 ammo or even if you take it to a local gun shop you can simply pull the slide back and lock it open and try inserting a .380 round into the barrel. If it's a .32 model, then the .380 round will not fit at all. The .380 is a larger diameter cartridge.

It's certainly an interesting piece of firearms history though. I see them available with the mag in the $400-$500 range with a quick search.
