So they change the name from "gun control" to "gun safety." Just like instead of calling themselves socialists, they call themselves liberals. Same $h!+, different name.

I'm curious... here's what the two mayors are quoted as saying in the article...

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, sent Obama a letter calling him to act.

"To prevent the next Tucson, we need a comprehensive background check system, which is what the president called for in April," said the director of the mayors' group, Mark Glaze. "That said, there are many steps the president can take on his own authority, without new laws, that could make a very real difference."

And yet... when was JL first diagnosed with mental issues? His parents probably wont say, but obviously it was before 18. Did he abuse small animals? that is a hallmark tell tale sign of mental disorder. Wasnt there some kind of animal thing in his backyard? I did a quick search on his name but didnt see anything, but I could swear that I saw something from the original arrest and incident articles.

How long did JL the obvious psycho own guns? more laws? really? because a background check via phone like CA which requires 10 days waiting period regardless of passing the background check as opposed to AZ which allows you to pass background check by phone and go home with the gun. If he owned that gun for more than 11+ days, I'd like them to explain to me how their laws have helped anyone involved? All they do is prohibit victims from defending themselves and infringe on our constitutional rights.

And lets not lose track of why JL fixated on her in the first place... at one time in another encounter, he asked her a question, which she couldnt or chose not to address as sensible, so she started replying to him in Enspanol...

She dismissed a constituent out of hand
She dismissed the entire LATINO community out of hand, by babbling in Spanish as an intentional insult to JL, but you dont see that in the news!
    She is a democrat
    He is a liberal

And they want to come tell us about gun law problems? How about... NO.

Did she "deserve" to get shot in the head for her answer to JL? No... punched in the mouth? maybe..., even that is still assault though. She was rude, arrogant and dismissive. And she did it intentionally, to the very definition of the "wrong person"! You reap what you sow.

We HAVE a comprehensive background check system, and it doesn't work.

    It's not the answer.

Start executing ALL violent criminals and watch the violence drop off. We haven't tried that yet. Let's try that for 25 years and see what happens, eh?
I can guarantee you I'd know what would happen........ :D

Years back, at least 50 or so, a teenage kid could get the death penalty if he was involved in an armed robbery here in Texas, now he gets a slap on the wrist, a pat on the bottom and told No-No! Well, maybe not that lenient, but it has gone from a Capital offense to a few years in Huntsville.

I do believe things have really taken a turn for the better since Texas adopted Concealed Carry and the Castle Doctrine. At least the numbers of violent crimes has decreased. An Armed society is a polite society.

Maybe some day everyone will understand that felons and nutjobs can never be controlled by laws.
