Well we are now making the fighting knives for the U.S. Coast Guard! I hear rumors we have a pretty good order of them to do. That should help things a little. They are pretty much the same as the Marine Corp knives just stamped U.S.C.G.

We are not allowed to purchase knives for others as it undercuts our salespeople. We are allowed to purchase them as gifts. Occasionally I have given some away. Hopefully I can continue to do so.

Unfortunately they have migrated down here, and LA plus some surrounding areas are saturated with them

Okay...so you can purchase a few as "gifts." I'm gonna ask early for you to put my name in the hat for your next USCG Ka-Bar giveaway! LOL

I wonder why the Navy hasn't gone to the full size fighting knife instead of that ugly little thing I had to carry?

Glad to hear that all is well at work, and that you are back at it!!!!

Salvage, because if you went overboard, they didn't want you have a lot of extra weight pulling you down. The Coasties just stand up and walk in. ;) That's just a stir, folks. The Coast Guard does some pretty hairy things in pretty deep water - but one of my buds gets his knickers in a knot when I toss him those lines, so I got in the habit!

Teak...if I had gone splash it would have taken a couple of Mae West's to keep me afloat since I had so much gear in my flight vest! LOL Two flashlights with spare batteries, Mod. 27 in 357 Mag, Ruger 22 auto...at least 50 rounds of ammo for each one...four different knives...medical kit...survival kit...survival radio, strobe light, etc. And they issued and demanded that we wear steel toe flight boots!!! LOL

And you think that the extra four ounces of steel in a full size Ka-Bar was going to make a MAJOR difference? :p

I was going to ask if they stamp them “USCG” or “PUDDLE PIRATE”, but I didn’t want to stir the pot this early. The “Puddle Pirate” comment closed down the EM Club one night at Gitmo, and almost locked down the whole station.
