As you guys know I enlisted into the army. I also have airborne in my contract and my MOS is infantry. But i still have to finish high school before i can ship out to basic. I got a letter in the mail two days ago from Portland State granting me admissions to the school and awarding me a 4 year rotc scholarship. I applied late and thought i missed the deadline and was going to just forget about it and go off to basic and be enlisted and go to ocs later down the road. But i mentioned it to my recruiter and he said if i wanted to go to college he could pull some strings. He was able to get me an option whic i will not pass up. i will go to basic over the summer and ait. Then I will be able to go back to school as rotc and go to portland state and during winter break do my airborne school. And once my four years are up I will come out a 2nd lieutenant and put on active duty. If my grades drop or if i feel i do not want to go to school i will be put back on active duty. This is all in writing and I am so thankful my recruiter was able to do this for me.

Now would be the time to be an overachiever. Get everything you can, while you can.

See, this is just another example that recruiters are not all liars and cheats. I'm a former Navy recruiter and I never lied and always took care of my recruits. Word of mouth is he best advertisement. Do us all proud corey and don't be a stranger here.

Helped raise a young man who put in time and got out and went the ROTC rout. He is a Major now in Iraq

Do your duty, trust in G*d and put out your best and the sky is the limit.

Lots of luck and prayers sent.

That is great news, Corey. I was just a little disappointed when you elected not to go on to college, but realized you know the lad called Corey better than I. I'm glad you are going on with your formal education.

Now, get in there and make us proud to know you! ;) :D
