Hey all. I just found this forum today. I am a member of a few others and enjoy the conversation. I have been a shooter for more than 40 years and my wife says I have an opinion on everything. It is my personal opinion however that she is wrong.
This post is just to introduce myself the following is something I posted recently on another forum that pretty well sums up my basic philosophy:

If a person knew absolutely nothing about firearms the information from forums such as this would lead him to one of two conclusions:

    1. There has never been a firearm made that is suitable for self defense as autos can jam, revolvers don't have a high enough capacity, derringers lack capacity and accuracy, shotguns and rifles can't easily be concealed. Therfore nothing is any good.

    or

    2. Any gun that you like, are competant with, have confidence in, and suits your needs is a perfect defense weapon.

Fact is somewhere in the middle, but I lean towards the second one.

    Regards
    Jim

    Welcome Jim
I just to let you know I favor a revolving shotgun for self defense and a tow-able 105mm for my CCW :D :D

I do not currently have a 1911. I have had several over the years and once I get one built up the way I like it, I am bored with it and trade it off. I favor revolvers, but I am a big fan of 1911s. What was the other one you asked about? Glock? What's that? ;) The only auto I currently own is an FN Five-seveN.
