I disassembled my sks last night, and now that it's back together my safety isn't working. It's just limp.

If the lock piece that captures the trigger guard is not fully engaged into the trigger guard, the safety will get floppy bc its binding the spring. flip the gun over with the trigger guard upwards (assuming you have no scopes on it) and push down on the trigger guard, it will snap into place. Some are harder than others and make sure the safety is flipped to the on position before doing so. You may need to pull the trigger guard off and try again.

I've pulled the guard off several times, there isn't tension on the spring. It just slides around a bit, and I thought that I had it working at one point. Turned out that it wasn't fully seated
