Well, it was made in 1918, by the serial number. Date on the barrel is 1930, so it has been arsenal rebuilt (normal for those guns, what with corrosive primers). Doesn't look to be the original stock, either. FJA (Lt. Col. Frank J. Atwood) seems to be a WW2 inspector, from what I can find. Apparently the stock was also replaced, at a rebuild. And, of course, it has been whittled on greatly. That rack number makes me wonder if it was an issue-gun for a high school ROTC. Is that rear screw missing, or have you just removed it for some reason?

both front and rear trigger guard screws are missing unfortunately. This used to be my great grandfathers who was a fervent rock hound.

Value on this rifle has been diminished by having a cut down stock. Many were re-built after WW1 and put back in inventory. The value is as a shooting rifle, not as a collectors item, for a dollar amount I suppose somewhere in the 300-400 dollar range. Send a pm if interested in selling.

I would like to get about $300 for this. I did find out that the bolt is a ww2 bolt made by across steel. I do have pics available if you need them.
    Just pm me. Thanks, Bill
