I am continually awed at the foresight shown by our founding fathers. They must have known a leopard would never change his spots any more than a government would never stop trying to exert more control over its constituents. The same force of arms it took to secure our freedom from an oppressive monarch is the fear that keeps the wolves in our government at bay. God forbid that we ever let down our guard and forget that fact.

They understood "man" and how he is with power. Gov't is just a whole lot of men with a whole lot of power. Too much corrupts absolutely - which is what we have now.

We're too far gone, we'll never get it back.

25% drop in murder rate in D.C. since Heller? Wonder why I have seen no mention of this until today.

Why wouldn't the press report this important fact? Are they on the side of despotic government?

Thank you Mark Alexander and Pops for posting this.

"In June 2008, the Supreme Court, by a narrow 5-4 vote (Scalia, Alito, Roberts, Thomas and Kennedy), reaffirmed, in District of Columbia v. Heller, that the people's inherent right to keep and bear arms is plainly enumerated in our Constitution. The Court ruled that the Second Amendment ensures an individual right, that DC could not ban handguns, and that operable guns may be maintained in the homes of law-abiding DC residents".

Do any of you think that this vote would have turned out the same way if this case was heard today, instead of last year?
