Does anyone have information on a peep sight that was made for the Mosin Nagant rifles that mounted to the cocking piece? I was thinking about making one.

    Thanks,

Why on earth would you mount it to the cocking piece?

Tis true, in the early 1900 some one marketed a sight that replaced the cocking piece. It had elevation adjustable barrel with an aperure topped post much like you would see on the tang sights for lever rifles. I know that there is a bit of "play" to overcome, but if you can do it it does give a good increase in sighting radius.

Interesting. It just seems odd to me that anyone would intentionally put a rear sight on a piece that constantly moves. Every Mosin Nagant I've ever touched had enough wobble in the bolt to destroy any accuracy from a sight mounted on it.

I found the catalog picture. It looks kind of interesting, but it must not have been too successful.
