Not bad for your first time.
If you do not mind a suggestion do not use a file and finish sanding by hand with 320 grit paper.
And the barrel should be finished around the barrel not down the barrel when you do this it looks better. More like a factory finish.
Are you cold blueing?
Have they started teaching you to hot blue.
What is the name of your instructor?
Mike
Please do not get me wrong I think he is doing great......
The school he is in is a good one and they make it fun but it is not easy.
The more trained smiths we can get the better things will be.
He will learn every thing he needs to go out and get a job or start his own business.

Mike it was done with immersion bluing. I'm not sure of last names since we don't use them but Gary started out as my semester 1 instructor but was moved to semester 4. Rob is now my semester 1 instructor. i am enjoying the school. the first couple weeks were a little rough but it was stuff we needed to learn but now it is a blast now that we are working on guns.
