Please help identifying this sight

Hi all! I've got a barn find Springfield model 83 single shot .22 that had this sight. I know it's not original to the gun because whoever installed it filed the stock and attached it behind the receiver. I'm not sure who made this sight or what gun it was for, but from my research it looks like it could be a vintage Lyman or Stevens. There are not any markings except for the graduated scales. The mounting screws measure 1 1/2 on center.

What do you guys think?

Without any markings all you can do it match it's looks and features to a known tang sight.

I think it's a Stevens, used on many single shot Stevens rifles.

Have a look on the page in the link below, about half way down the page on the left. The Number 2 in the picture looks like it. Too bad it's so small, details are hard to see.

Here's Google image search for "Stevens Tang Sight" results;

Thanks GunHugger! I cleaned it a bit and found either the number 6 or 9 stamped on the back of the aperture and the piece the aperture screws into. I can't see any other other markings. I did some more research today and from what I found, the 1.5 spacing on the holes says it's for a Stevens, but I'm not sure. I'm probably going to sell it because I don't need it, but don't want to misrepresent what it is. Man, this thing has me stumped!
