    welcome lee

the difference is the same with all pre/post ban weapons

high magizine capacity {over ten},folding stock, flash supressor, bayonet
none of these are alowed on post ban weapons , nor can you take a pre-ban and modify it {add folding stock, etc} ,it has to already been done before the ban

like zig said 800.00 bucks ,or better

    Lee, postbans are simply copies
of the originals less the evil
    features
    as mentioned above
    800$ depends on where the
    line begins
    entry level romanian ak47
    340$
    nib Yugo non folder
    over 2000$
    several more higher both ways

    if it was preban
you can do with it as you
    please
and the above information concerning that
    is incorrect

if you owned a preban yugo with a
    fixed stock
    you could add a folder
    cant make it preban twice
    most are confused by that

    preban is preban
    period

while that might seam common sense to most of us ,you must remember we are dealing with the goverment

yes the ban did include the manufature of such guns ,it also does include modifacation of any weapons ,after sept 14 1994 ,you may not modify them regardless of date of manufacture , them being pre-ban does grandfather them in to owning them but ,it does not grandfather in modifications

example : sks of course they are pre-ban ,but if it wasn't law companies could easily modify them for sale , while you still can by accessories {nos} to do so your not suposse to

of course lies a burden of proof as to when your modification took place

i couldn't find the exact ruling in my atfe law book so i emailed them here is their reply

Mr. ********: Thank you for visiting ATF's Website. As stated on our site,
generally, we do not answer technical questions via e-mail, but I contacted
our Firearms Technology Branch (FTB) and was advised the following:

"It is generally unlawful for a person to manufacture, transfer, or possess,
a semiautomatic assault weapon. However, a semiautomatic assault weapon
that was lawfully possessed under Federal law on September 13, 1994, can
still be lawfully possessed and transferred. If you have a semiautomatic
rifle that is not a "semiautomatic assault weapon" and you add a folding
stock so that the rifle becomes a semiautomatic assault weapon, the rifle
would be prohibited. To meet the exemption, the rifle had to be a
semiautomatic assault weapon on September 13, 1994. If it became a
semiautomatic assault weapon after September 13, 1994 it is prohibited."

If you have any further questions, please call them on 202-927-7910.
    Regards,

    I stand by my statement
    100%
    PERIOD!
and the sks is no example of any preban
    unless
    maybe a "D" model
all you have to do is
    read the above
    ak`s were prior to 1989
add all you like if you own one

    AND

should you own any other preban

    same applies

    preban is preban
you are not making an assualt rifle
    its already one
    and thats the lose description
    per governments evil terms
