    primer question
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHile I am an old pro at shotshell reloading I know ZERO about rifle reloading.

Can someone please explain boxer and berdan primed.

When buying military surplus ammo can the brass be reloaded?

Berdan primed cases are generaly considered non-reloadable.
Boxer primed cases are the ones that are normaly reloaded.
If you look down inside the case you will see from 1 to 3 holes in the bottom, 1 hole indicates a Boxer style, 2-3 holes are Berdan style.

    .308

I might be trying some of the NRA high power shoots for the hell of it and will be needing some cheap ammo. I can't see the sense in buying ammo that the brass is not reloadable.

I do plan on reloading someday. At the present I have to many hobbies and no money so I have not got into it yet.

I am not looking for brass, of course I would take some if you are throwing it out.

I am looking for a GREAT deal on loaded .308 that is boxer primed.

    Piggie -

The Sellier & Bellot ammo is made in Yugoslavia and is boxer primed (reloadable). It is one of the better grades of economy ammo that is available. Try Cheaper Than Dirt if you want to get a good price on the stuff.
