Got this from my father in law years ago. I know it is Damascus barreled, not safe to shoot with modern powder. So, what is the who, what, when, and how much?
As was noted, this gun was made in Belgium and yours remains in excellent condition. I too have a "Prize Machine Gun" (note that mine is spelled Prize and not Prise), a hammerless extractor 16-bore; manufactured by Dumoulin under a patent assigned to T.J. Bovy. Over the years I've shot a lot of game with this gun using black powder hand loads I concocted myself; and on one occasion scored a left and right on a pair of gray fox flushed from thicket while rabbit hunting. But you can safely shoot your gun, as Gamebore, Polywad, and several other shot shell manufacturers load period correct shot shells for use in vintage guns. These shells will be loaded to the same pressures vintage guns were designed to shoot a century ago; and are also made in the shorter shell lengths to conform to the short, by today's standards, chambers common during that era. As to value, these guns are occasionally seen for sale on the various gun auction sites; but seldom bring more than $300-400. If it were mine, I'd get some period correct shells and enjoy using the piece; and if you don't hunt, there are a number of sporting clays events designed specifically for vintage shotguns; events that are becoming more popular each year.
Thanks for the info. I did notice that in one pix it is spelled "Prize" and in another photo it is spelled "Prise"
