Nice! That is impressive given how freekin fast that thing is flyin. You'd think just a little weight(a grain or two maybe!) would get deposited/lost somewhere!

Im gonna look into the TSX for my 30-06, for deer. Maybe the 150, or 165 grainers. Or both! Might as well try 'em out! Thnaks for the great opinions Evan, and Josh! I notice the Federal Premium Vital-Shok can come topped with a TSX...Might start there, and then try handloads too.

Im super jelous of the Mule-y! The few mule deer we get in way eastern OR are thinner deer, with little, twiggy lookin racks. They just dont look really healthy like that boy there.

I'd go 165tsx in the 3006 with 57grs of imr 4350. That's a magic load. Kill anything anwhete with it. That's a book load that shoots very good in mine.

Ill second that load. Its actually an OCW load and should shoot well in just about anything chambered for the .30-06 and loaded with 165-168 gr bullets pushed with that same 57 gr charge of IMR4350. The TSX bullets are killer. They have put the .300 H&H cartridge in viable cape buffalo choices. where 20 or 30 years ago you wouldnt see an experienced cape hunter with less than a .375 H&H.

Nice! Wish I could find myself a cheap .223 rifle. The local pawn shop has a Mini 14 for $550 and it has tons of scratches and dents on the stock and barrel. Gun shops seem to only carry mid-high end bolts that go for $600+. Guess I'm gonna have to order a Savage Axis without getting to hold/feel one first. :(

Check out armslist, the axis/edge series feels like a plastic stock in your hands. However, they feel better than a 700 imho, and I have grown quite fond of mine and I'm looking to get one for ashley.

223 is fine for deer in any state its legal to use for deer hunting. especially with that bullet, you dont have to worry so much about hitting the shoulder anymore.

LOL. Got figure out optimal through all the variables of primers seating depth heck difrent cases have slighlty difrent capacities.

Thanks for the link. That was a good chocolate ice cream read.
    57gr of 4350 under a 165/168 definatly qualifies as a OCW load.

I did have to drop the load to 56 in a buddies savage pushing 165 triple shocks. At 56 it shoots very good at 57 it wasn't so good.
