Does anyone have experience with John Daly 1911s? They are made in the Philippines. From your experience, good, adequate, or junk?

I had the Empire model and found it to be a good gun.

Had all the bells and whistles and worked fine.

    Except for the mags...they stunk.

Charles Daly's are among the less expensive M1911 copies. Some like 'em, some don't.

Quality-wise, they're safe, and usually serviceable (but frequently require some tweaking).

Not quite in the same league as Colt, Kimber, and Springfield.

This has been covered a few times.

The new Charles Daly 1911's are decent guns. Problems are mostly mag related. I've had a couple of them. Not in the league with Kimber, Colt or Springfield as Xracer states, But with a little tweeking make a reliable weapon.

I have one as well. My first .45 as a matter of fact. Like the others, I use aftermarket mags and have experienced absolutely no problems with the weapon.

    Would I buy another one?

    Yep.

Just bought a Charles Daly M1911 A-1, it came with Meg-Gar clip. Wondering if that is the clip everyone seems to have a problem with?

Yep. Try Wilson Combat, CMC Shooting Star or Metalform. All good mags but the factory mags are junk.

I have more experience with the Wilson's than the others. And I haven't had a pro with them

Just for interest, my local FFL told me THe CD's are made with the original WWII machinery sent to the PI by the US Govt back during the war.

The guy is full of it. Why would we send machinery to the Phillipines during WW2?

Bruce, your FFL may have his info crossed up with Norinco of China.

The Norinco 1911 is made in China on machinery purchased from Colt. They're quality keeps getting better, but the magazines are still junk. Replace the mags abd you will have a reliable, accurate weapon. Some of the CD 1911's need a litttle tweeking. ( Personally, I like to tweek them all, but that's just me. :) )
