Hello. What is the history of this company. As a kid I had a singleshot 22 and now bid on a 410 by Ranger. I think they were around in pre WW2 days and made low end 22's etc. Thanks for help.

This is from The Standard Catalog of Firearms:

    "Ranger:

    a) Trade name found on inexpensive pocket revolvers of unknown manufacture.

    b) Trade name used by Eastern Arms Co. on various firearms made for Sears, Roebuck & Co. of Chicago.

    c) Trade name of the Sears, Roebuck & Co. of Chicago on a wide variety of firearms marketed by that firm."

    The Blue Book says:

"Ranger Arms Inc. - Previous manufacturer located in Gainsville, TX until the early 1970s.

Ranger Aarms Inc. manufactured good quality, bolt action rifles in various calibers and configurations. Although somewhat rare in that there were not a large number maufactured, collectibility to date has been limited with specimens in 90%+ condition, typiucally priced in the $375-$500 range."

I suspect that the "Rangers" you're referring to are of the Sears, Roebuck variety.

  4. Yes, he's referring to the Sears brandname. Most of those were made by Stevens, but Mossberg is a possibility. Would have to see the gun or at least have the specific Sears model number (xxx.xxxx).
