Awhile back I bought some remington accutip v bullets 55gr . I can't find any load data on these at all. My powder choices are H335, benchmark, BLc 2 . They look exactly like the hornady vmax bullets, just a different color tip. Do you think I can just use data from the hornady vmax bullets or should I do something else?
The biggest concern of course would be if jacket hardness was the same on both bullets. If one has a harder copper jacket, that'll shoot pressures up initially.
Reduce your starting load about 10% from the lowest load listing and work up you should be ok though, all other factors being equal.
I have used Hornady and Sierra 55gr data with those Remington 55gr AccuTips in the .22-250. With the powder I was using both of those manuals' data crossed over nearly identical.
Can't help you with .223 data though.
Spottedpony's suggestion to start at the min and work up from there is how I would proceed.
Also check on the Hodgdon website for addition cross-reference data.
Remington and Winchester don't publish any data for the reloading components they sell.
As a general rule you can find a similar design from another maker and use that data. If you have more than one manual, cross-referencing by several sources will give you a better idea for min/max data to use...but as always, start low and work up while watching for problems.
The only time I would be concerned about data for a specific bullet is if using a TSX. 25.3gr of H335 is what I use when I load 223 whether it be a V-MAX Silvertip or a hornady fbsp.
