I came across this forum and joined in. I have a Remington 550-1 that was my fathers he bought new. Was not used much because he was in the Navy for 30yrs. I sent it off and had it completely restored and it cost more than the gun is worth but not the sentimental value of it. This is and always has been one of the best shooting, right on the target rifle I have had. Anyone that has ever shot it was amazed at the accuracy of it.

My 550-1 is the best 22 rifle I have ever handled. I dearly love the fact that it will handle shorts, longs and LR with 100 % reliability. It's a plinkers delight. More accurate than I am capable of any more.
Keep the action fairly clean though. They will have problems if allowed to become extensively "gummed up". Make sure the floating chamber stays slightly moveable.

That looks similar to the one my dad had that I learned to shoot with. Carried it to school many times to go to Hunter Safety. Wish I knew what it was for sure. All I remember is that it was a tube fed semi-auto.

I did some searching and I found a photo of the gun we had. It is the same one. The little spent case deflector gave it away. Thanks.
