I just picked up one from a co-worker, looks new,he says its unfired. I've looked around
some forums and see it has a some what bad reputation. Mags are hard to find.
I've not shot this yet but interested if any one has any good news bout it and any ammo suggestions ? Good or bad I'd like to hear it.
I've had 2 Vipers. I got the first one when they first came out. I think it was in '92 or '93. The first one I got new and thought it was pretty cool but didn't get to shoot it much. I sold it back to the dealer due to the lack of funds. The second one I got last year because I hadn't seen one for sale since i got rid of my first one. The second time around was not as impressive as the first. This gun having been used had some FTF and FTE problems and the firing pin spring was weak. I sold it to a co-worker because he thought it was "cool" looking. The Viper was a short lived firearm because of various problems. I don't think the plastic receiver was such a good idea but it did have some appeal to it. The 597 was a good replacement for the Viper. I had one 2 years ago and was impressed with it. I hope you didn't pay too much for the Viper because you can get a scoped 597 at Academy for $179.99 right now.
ive got a viper 522 and shot it atleast 1,000 times and never a minute trouble with it ive had it for bout 10 yrs its a target ringer always hits where ya aim its a1 rifle i think
I too have a Viper. It has been an excellent .22. Very light to carry and accurate. Mine likes Target ammo (standard velocity) best. Mags are available from Sportsman Guide for $50.00. Expensive but are steel, much better than some of the original plastic ones. Good luck.
I also have one.I like the looks of them and mine is also accurate.I haven't had any problems with it,and I have had it for about 10 years. My local K-Mart store was selling out its gun supplies section a few years back and I bought all of the Viper mags that they had, about 9 of them, for 6 dollars apiece.
that is definatly the critter. not a bad looking rile
