I am looking for some plans for a front rifle rest, I only want the front rest I'm not looking to make a whole "lead sled" like contraption. Anyway I have come to believe that people one here can help with every problem ever :), so I thought I'd ask!

Google joe Cowan. I just bought one of his superb rests. He might send you the plans.

made a quick drawing of one i made

    materials 3/4" thick ply

some scrap foam rubber to go into the curved rest area and some glue to glue the foam

the cross piece should go in tight and need a tap in that ways its free standing

This is what I started out with. The white material is a hard foam but not abrasive. I have since updated to a metal one.

That was also my first attempt at building a stock. I am starting on my second one as soon as I decide which action to put in it. (CZ American or CZ Varmint):)

Probably not what you are looking for and definitely not as nice as what’s been posted, but I’m cheap. Pants legs filled with beach sand. BB’s, dried peas/beans and other things would work. The top bag is filled loose enough so that a nice V shape can be formed, tho I didn’t do that in the photo. It works for me, and cost $0.00.
