...got out the Single Ten today and thought I would
try some golf balls @ 100yds-lasered) Before I owned the single
ten, I was doing pretty well on the same targets with my
single six with the 9.5" barrel, (in the past few days).
There wasnt any shade other then what the clouds was
making and the golf balls was hard to see with the sun
    hitt'in on'em. I had been back this
morning and with the single ten, I was (on average) hitting
about 2 shots per 10rds. fired. Not good shooting, as far as
consistency, but dang, the front sight is bigger then the golf
balls them selves out @ 100yds! I set my camera and was
"trying" to get a hit in a pic...(had the camera set to snap at
10seconds.) In the pics taken, I thought I had a good hit, but
it was NO hit. I ended up hitting the one by it's self on the left
after I turned the camera off, and it hit on the 8th shot fired.
Now, if a person could do that 8 out of 10 shots fired...*I'm
working on that*!!! But anyways, thought I'd share a few pics
with you all...it was a bit hot, but a good day to practise!
I will say, after sending several "hundred" rounds through the
single ten at different ranges and benchrest, standing...it's
"as" accurate, if not "more" accurate then my single six with
a 9.5" barrel on it...(hard for me to hold long with the long
barrel.) The Single Ten is far more better balanced.
    (oh, did I mention accurate..lol)
Some might say, use a rifle at 100yds...makes sence,
but I like a challenge! (CCI Blazers)

...here are a few that has been peppered in the past few days.
The CCi Blazers goes right throught them, even at 100yds.

Yer a better man than I am Gunga Din. At 100 yards offhand with a pistol I need a liter bottle at least and a gallon jug is better. I'll just blame it on old eyes and the fact that I'm probably twice your age. I'm glad to see anybody out there shooting in less than optimal conditions and doing it the hard way, Those are the people who will be able to perform if things go south on us and we don't have nice shirt sleeve conditions to fight in. You will be available and the bench resters will be out of their element.

We use the 5 gallon buckets at 250 on my range. a 1911 .45 has about 20 feet of drop at 250 yds. Once you figure out the dope, its pretty easy to hit the bucket.. ;)

Dale that is fantastic shooting. Great photos too. Keep them coming. It is fun to hear what others can do and the other comments here are spot on.

Heck I can't see a golf ball at 100 yards. I was tickled to hit an eight inch plate yesterday with a pistol rested. You shoot off hand standing with a handgun, OUTSTANDING ! !

I'll tell ya'all what the weird thing is with me...I can shoot targets (paper) all day long and have a hard time holding groups. That's one reason I usually make my own "paper" targets when I do shoot paper...just a 1" black circle up to 50yds and I'm good to go. I think the old saying "aim small, miss small" applies to me. Put up a
10" target at 25yds....and I can NOT hold a group! Put up a pill bottle and I dont seem to have a problem...and I dont like to set, rather be standing. If I pick up a firearm and it doesnt feel right, right from the 1st touch, it aint gonna happen...usually.

I think maybe their are too many trees on my range, ha. Of course now all those trees are full of leaves. If you look really, really close you might be able to see that golf ball hanging down there at 100 yards. But now I can't see it with all the leaves out. But this fall I am going to give it a try just for the heck of it. I will limit myself to 100 shots and if I have not hit it I will just have to admit I haven't got what it take.

All in fun Dale, it is obvious you are a very good shot.

We need to work out a trade Josh. You could use a few trees for some shade and I need to get rid of a few to let the sun shine in. Early Spring, late Fall and Winter it is alright but this time of year at times it is like shooting into a cave.

I could totally dig that. Shade means no mirage and no mirage means 1/2" groups at 200..:D
