Like another person I read about on this forum I have a .38 s&w that was handed down to me. I know virtually nothing about how to tell how old this firearm is and what it might potentially be worth. Any help would be fantastic!!

You have to give some details and send a picture if
    possible.

What's the serial number from the bottom of the butt? (Also include any letters that may be there.)

    It's a .38 Military & Police (Postwar) aka "Pre-Model 10"
    The serial shows manufacture1948-1951 (Serial range C1 - C223998)
Can't get any closer without a factory letter ($50) or possibly someone that has lettered one close in number that will post here.
