I have a Smith & WEsson 38 SPL. Markings show serial number as 8D75853 and there is E10 x6713 stamped inside. I would like to get a value on the gun. It's 4" barrel, wooden handle, blue nose.

    Hi Waldrep....welcome to TFF.

    Well, your S&W was made in 1981 and could be either a Model 10, 12, 13, 45, 64, 65, or 547.

Value depends on which model it is, and on it's condition.

Can you post a picture of it?

I will try again to upload a photo. The file was too big and wouldn't attach. I would like to know how to find the model number as I've looked everywhere and only found the numbers I listed.

    Thanks!

P>S> The gun is in excellent shape as it's been fired infrequently since purchase.

    P S 2! I found the Model number finally - it's 10-7 and here's a photo. Sorry for the confusion.

Wow! That's the shortest 4" barrel I've ever seen! :)

Yup.....that's a Model 10, also known as the Military & Police. Yours has the 2" barrel and looks to be in excellent shape.

    Current Blue Book value:

    98% - $275
    95% - $210
    90% - $160

Yours appears to fall into the 95-98% category.....closer to 98%.

    Yeah, yeah, I know. You keep gettin' told that 6 inches is a foot...right??? :D :D :D

Sorry.....the Devil made me do that! :D

Hope you'll stick around......we need more of the kinder, gentler gender around here. :)
