I have a Smith & Wesson 9mm dbl action auto pistol, serial # A175884. I purchased this gun new in about 1972. I fired about 200 to 300 rds through it, then put it away. Bluing is approx 99% intact; the checkering on the grips is unmarked and sharp; the grips have a few superficial surface scratches around the edges. The bottom rear of the grip (the ribbed portion that fits against your palm when holding the pistol in firing position) has a small abrasion about 1/2" long -- the bluing has been scratched off of about 3 of the ribs at that location. Apart from those items mentioned, the gun appears at first glance to be new. I also have two 14 rd factory magazines.
What is the approximate value of this gun today?

The Blue Book values your Smith Model 59 at:

    98% - $340
    95% - $270
    90% - $250
    80% - $225

    Add $35 for nickel finish
Add $150 for smooth (ungrooved) grip frame.
