Does anybody here own one ? What is your opinion ? I'm thinking seriously about getting one. They are in the $350-$400 range, but they look sweet with that heavy stainless barrel and that thumbhole laminate stock. I've never had a Savage product I didn't like. I'd probably put a decent 4-12 scope on it, maybe a Pentax or something like that. Forgot to mention....I'm considering the .22 LR only because of the cost of .22 mag and .17 hmr ammo these days. Any advice to the contrary ?

You'll love it...here's my custom version of the BTVS using a 93GV barreled action in a Boyd's Ross RTV stock, caliber 17HMR w/36X scope. Probably the most accurate out of the box factory rifle I've ever seen.

It's a great gun. I got one from our local CAL Ranch store a couple of years ago. The accutrigger is very nice - accuracy is excellent (as far as I can ascertain - it shoots a lot better than I do). I certainly recommend. I've mounted a Centerpoint 4-16x from WalMart for about $70.

I have one with a standard laminated stock (not thumbhole) and it is a great looking and great shooting .22 rifle. I recommend this Savage without hesitation. It is one of my favorite rifles.

I bought a MKII BTVS in .22 and liked it so much I bought one in .17. The fit and finish on these is excellent!

mjc....I may have to do the same thing ! Should be getting a .17 soon from a TFF member. Maybe a .22 will be added to my collection later.

I am looking at a Savage Mark II, but in 17 Mach 2. The price of ammo is pretty reasonable compared to .22 shells and performance is better.

BTV not a BTVS. WOW it is very accurate. It is a great bench gun (too heavy for me to carry). Mine loves Federal Lightning.

nice looking rifle...iflyfish. I also have a BTV...with the standard wood stock, with a Simmon's 4-16x50, in .17 hmr, and just have a blast shooting stuff out to 150 yrds. The BTVS is sharp looking also, but I prefer the BTV look. Maybe a guy should have two, one in each flavor!!

I have a mark ii bv, not thumb hole. It shoots great (mine likes cci subsonic hollowpoints) It can put 5 shots in a ragged hole at 50 yards.
